What's good throughout the USA? It was a pretty solid
week here. Nothing too eventful missionary work-wise, besides the regular
routine. We did, however, have some eventful things while out doing different
missionary things. First off, we had a zone meeting and our zone leaders wanted
to cook breakfast at the church beforehand for everyone. Nice jester right?
It was all good until the fire alarms went off because there was a tad
bit too much smoke in the kitchen and so the fire department showed up and
turned the alarms off for us. During the meeting, we got a text and one of our
investigator's nephews was sick and asked if we could go give him a blessing. The
family is from Burma and they don't speak any English and our investigator was
at class. So, we started to give the one-year-old a blessing which went well,
besides the fact that he screamed the whole way through it because our hands
were on his head. Then the mother wanted a blessing because her knee was giving
her problems. So, right before we started to give her the blessing, the
daughter starts to breastfeed the kid right there in front of us, in the middle
of the room, not trying to hide anything. I know it's common in foreign
countries, but that was a first on the mission and was super awkward. We tried
booking it out of there as quickly as possible. That was pretty much the
excitement of the day and week.
We had a fireside last night for non-members and also for the members to get excited about missionary work. Our mission president came down for it and we had a really good turn out. It gained us a lot of member trust and we got a few potentials to teach from it. So hopefully things will boost up from that.
All of our same investigators are progressing and preparing themselves for baptism in the next upcoming weeks. We got a new missionary announcement that we get more time for emailing and we also can email whoever we want instead of just family, so if Cascia could spread the word on that on Facebook, that would be appreciated. Everything else is still going grand. Since I've been off Insanity, I've been doing 500 push ups everyday, 250 in the morning and then again at night. ELE...everybody love everybody! ONE LOVE!
This just in, I heard from my mission president and my release date is November 30 2013. I'm pumped! That is two days after Thanksgiving, so I might go home the week before. But if not, plan accordingly! Elder Larsen
