Sounds like things are going well for everyone and it was great to hear from a lot of you. I got the Valentine's Day card, so I don't know when you sent it, but you can measure by that. I did memorize last week's script and this week's will be D&C 31:3.
So this week I went on exchanges twice. The first one, I explained a little about last email and it was all that I thought it would be. It was super tough being with someone that has goofed off for the past 18 months. I found that he had actually come out the exact same time as one of our AP's and he has only ever made it to CO-senior companion. Nothing past that. It was a good learning experience because I was in charge and had to make the appointments and all the decisions. Not gonna lie, I liked it a lot. I love being in charge instead of being the junior. The second exchange was with the guy I actually took over for when I came. He is really chill and in some of the pictures I will send. It was a lot better experience. This week things continued as off with people canceling and all that. Its tough, but we are still able to do work and are progressing with a couple of people. One of our top ladies actually cancelled, but then asked for some more suggested chapters to read because she had already read the ones we assigned last week. She is going to get wet for sure. The one most frustrating thing that we run into is that a couple of different people do everything (scripts, prayer, and church attendance) but they will not get baptized. There are 3 people that have been doing these things for 10+ years. They just won't do it and it's not like we can make them. We have run out of things to teach them, because they know everything. One guy knows the BOM more than I do. I have started to read Jesus the Christ. It is intense and I don't know how much I've actually retained. It's good. It pushes me to learn and I've become a reader since there is nothing else for me to do, but I enjoy it a little more as time continues. I've found that I can teach all day, but I'm working on knowing more scriptures. I love teaching and it comes pretty easy. I just need more references and knowledge of the BOM. My cough continues which sucks, but it doesn't slow me down too much. I hit my old one year mark, which was a tough day just because I had been out one month instead of one year.
BTW, Dad, the college form that you sent, I changed to going back Winter of '14 instead of Spring '14. I've talked with the mission president and I'm just waiting for him to send me his letter and then I will send it to BYUI. That's crazy that Chace is moving to Utah. I can't believe it that almost everyone in the family is like 4 hours or less from where I am. Kind of crazy!
I went to this restaurant that had this thing called the donut burger. It is a normal burger with 2 giant glazed daylight donuts on top. It sounds sick and weird, but it was really good! One morning, the people we live with were talking about how he cooked at this ranch where super rich people would come and hunt for the weekend and how crazy it is that they would do that and kept going off on how rich all these people were. All I could think about was Dad going on trips like for work. Just made me laugh, but I just let him go off.
So things with my companion are about the same, but his new thing is to do and order everything that I do. If I lean back, he leans back. If I lean forward, then he does as well. It doesn't matter what it is, he copies me. Its really weird and creepy.
This Sunday, I had to talk in church on the Proclamation to the Family. I think it went really well and I did a good job, but I have no idea. Everyone around here is nice so who knows. Either way, it is done and I don't have to worry about it. The church we went to is in Almo and it is right on the border of Utah by Yost. We actually spent the night in Yost, Utah, which is weird since I'm in the Boise, ID Mission.
The final thing that happened was this morning. We woke up to our car completely egged. About 24 eggs had frozen to the car. It sucked cleaning it off and not a good start to the day. I think that is about it. The computer I am on won't recognize my camera so I will try another one after I send this letter and get some new pictures to you guys.
Love ya' and glad everything is going well in the world outside of this one.
Love,
E. Colby Larsen
