Not a Single Stoplight

Well, it was good to hear from a lot of different people this week, so thank you for that. Feels great to get on and see your emails in double digits. So, I have also realized that in the entire stake that I cover there is not a single stoplight. It is an interesting place. Mom, there is only one restaurant in Declo and we get to eat there for free because we are chill with the owner. We go to Burley on pdays so you can look for something there if you want, but don't stress. This weekend was insanely slow in missionary work. Almost every single appointment cancelled or was a no-show. It was tough for sure, but we kept pushing forward and tried to make work happen. The one plus was we got to hear and shake hands with Elder Ballard! It was so amazing. The spirit of 200 missionaries and an apostle of the Lord. I've never felt anything like it. I took a lot of notes, which is super weird for me. He talked a lot about missionary work and things we can do to become better and more effective missionaries. It was amazing to me because for the first time in my life I knew that without a doubt everything that I've heard and been taught is true. Sad that it took an apostle and going back out on a mission for the second time to realize it, but I'm glad it happened. He talked a bit about the Plan of Salvation and it was so amazing to think about it and how blessed we are to have that to look forward to. He said that we should be obedient and follow all the rules, but not to be an obedient robot. My companion is an obedient robot.  That is the best description I can come up with for him, but things are still fine there.

Sounds like the pictures finally were able to go through, so hopefully that this weeks pictures won't be so difficult. I've made it out over 3 weeks so far which is actually 2 months with my added time from before, which seems super weird to think about. The family that knows the Bronsons from Parker gave me and my companion Valentine's Day packages, which was really nice. They are a great family to have around. It's funny though,  around here how many of the active members are so-so. They go to church and all that, but that is about it. They don't know the doctrine very well and just kind of do their own things. That's just how it is and we are trying to change that. I finally went to the doctor this last week for my cough and I got some meds for $20 and it isn't completely gone, but doing better.  I'm out of meds. So I'll give it some more time. My tooth is doing a lot better, so I'm going to put off the dentist.  My knee is doing well. I played ball on it last week and it did fine. It's still a little stiff, but I think it's all good for the most part.

There is a training meeting tomorrow and we have mass exchanges since my companion is DL. I am getting paired with a not very good missionary though. He has been out for 18 months and still is junior companion. He is coming to my area, so I will be in charge, which will give me an opportunity to grow and be placed in a lot different situations.  So, we'll see how I do. I'm pretty excited about the challenge. I told Chad, but I thought I would let you know that my weight is still the same or a couple pounds lower. I've been trying to work out and run in the mornings, but you know how I'm not much of a morning person. Glad to hear that everything is going well for all. Hopefully things pick up this week and we'll have some more success. I wrote a rhyme during one of the harder times this week and I will send it in another email along with some pictures. I would also really like Mac's address. I have a letter for him and need to send it. Love you guys and thanks for the letters and the support.

Love,
Elder Larsen
