Well the week started out and and ended up great, but the
middle wasn't as great. Dees and I went to Declo for the day which was awesome. I got to see a couple of people, but not everyone I was hoping to see. But here
in a couple of weeks, we are going to try and make another trip back. We were with
his cousins most of the time and ended up starting to make knives out of
railroad spikes. It was pretty sweet, but we only got half way done or so, so
we will have to finish another time. If you haven't ever seen it, I have
attached the final product.
The middle of the week was rough as usual. We had a couple pretty good lessons, but all in all, it was cancellations and what not. We are speaking in a ward next week that has nothing going on. Hopefully, that will give us some people to teach and get the members pumped about doing missionary work.
Like I said, the end of the week was awesome. Elder Jeffery R. Holland came and spoke to this side of the mission for 1 1/2 hours or so on Saturday. It was so cool cause we were asked to show up 30 minutes prior to the meeting started to read our scripts and prepare ourselves. I have been reading in Matthew lately and the chapter I was on was the one talking about the laborers in the field, which he talked about in the April General Conference of last year. Right when I was finishing it up, I heard his voice in the hall and the Spirit came in and bombed my body. It was an amazing feeling and it never left. In the meeting, he mostly talked about his mission, to not go inactive after your mission, (really pressed hard on that), and he also made a lot of jokes, which really caught me off guard because I had never really heard him joke before. It wasn't the hardcore rebuking session that I thought it would be. It was awesome. We were also able to shake his hand before the meeting started. The funniest thing that he said was he was talking about how we as missionaries need to be more persistent and so he started talking about the Avon sales lady. "The Avon sales lady is so persistent and its only makeup that she is selling. She is always around our house. We might as well add her to our family pedigree chart, and maybe after that have her sealed to our family." I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that. He also said that missionary work is done the Lord's way...its not Burger King and we can't have it our way. It was a dope meeting!!!!
Life is good. I am ready for a new transfer to start. We had a meeting with the stake yesterday on missionary work and there are supposed to be 135 missions opening by June and they want to try to get a companionship assigned to 1-2 wards as well. So the next little bit could be a big change.
Love ya' guys and hope all is well!
