6 Months

Well this week was pretty good. It went by super fast. We had a day though that it felt like we biked all day and it was in the mid 90's most the week. That is not the highlight of the mission.

While we were tracting, we were in a cul-de-sac and knocked on a door with no response, so we went to the house directly across from it. About 5 minutes later, and while we were talking to this lady, this old man came out of the previous house and started yelling and cussing to no one. He thought it was teenagers doorbell ditching him or something. He kept yelling for a solid 4 minutes and it was really hard for me to keep a straight face while talking to this other lady. It was super hilarious.

We were faced with a lot of "anti" things and people bashing on the church this week. It just stinks that people would rather read things on the internet or hear from someone else rather than asking the direct source. It tests our faith a lot though and as long as you have the firm foundation (Helama5:12) then all is good. My companion really enjoys going back and forth with the people a little too much and he doesn't know when to stop. It's kinda frustrating because it takes away the spirit at times. The following day one of our ward mission leaders said randomly in conversation, "You can't talk someone into the gospel," and it's true.  Some of those appointments were kind of tough.

I hit my six month mark last Wednesday and so I went up in the mountains with a member family and burned my tie. It was fun. Me and my companion are getting really good at ping pong and its spreading around our area. When we were at church yesterday, we had 3 different people come up to us and ask us about it. It's kind of funny and they are all challenging us and what not.

While we were teaching a lesson to the African family that we baptized a couple weeks ago, the mom said that Jesus is her boyfriend. I don't know what she was trying to get across, but I just gave her the Larsen smirk and nodded my head. Yesterday at one of our sac meetings, I got to pass the sacrament. That was kind of cool, but weird since I haven't done it since I don't know when.

Well that is about it for me. Not too much going on. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Also next week during Fast Sunday, if you could fast for John Carlson, that would be great. He has a baptism date in 2 1/2 weeks and he still haven't given up tobacco and weekend beers. He needs more desire and motivation. Love you guys!!!

Love,
Elder Larsen

  • Just a good game of Polish Ping Pong
  • Just me and the valley
  • Elder Linker and me burning our ties
  • Mission accomplished - 6 months down, 18 more to go!
  • The people we live with have this crazy roll ball thing, so I said I'd give it a whirl.
  • This is called fufu. It is some African soup what-not my companion makes - not bad, not good, weird texture.
  • Traveled six months, but still have a long road ahead!
