Sick, Sick....and More Sick

This week just flew by.  I don't even really know what all happened because it's mostly just a blur, but here are some of the main points that I can remember. The week started off with Iris (Old Granny) buying a Christmas tree just for me. I have been giving her a hard time cause she says that Christmas is too commercialized now days, which is true.  But I told her that we could celebrate the real meaning.  So slowly, every time we go over there, there are a few more decorations added to the home.

We got some great news from one of the families that we have been teaching.  It is the family that wants to be baptized, but the Mom is still living with a guy that she is now married to, so we had to postpone it. Anyhoot, the good news is that her two kids, Thomas and Emily, still want to be baptized. So, they are going to go ahead and be baptized and the mom will be baptized somewhere down the road (hopefully soon)!  They are getting baptized Saturday afternoon!   That was an unexpected Christmas baptism.

Friday we had a zone meeting in Baker (where I did the milk shake challenge). We were supposed to leave at 8:30 a.m. and get back about 2 p.m. at the latest.  Instead, some elders were late.  There was some confusion and the meeting went super long, so we got home at 5:00, while missing three appointments.  It was super frustrating.  On top of that, we had to ride with the sister missionaries and the sister's driving was so awful.  I honestly feared for my life!

My companion and I have been sick (on and off) for the past weekish! Of course, since we are sick, some of our investigators have been sick.  Even some of our dinner appointments have been sick as well. It was a rough teaching week.

The final bad piece of news is my good friend Brandon Roberts. We had a couple lessons with him in the early part of the week and on Friday I texted him to see if he was going to go with us to his ward's Christmas party.  He never responded.  Then I texted him Saturday to see how he was doing...no response.  Then I texted him Sunday to see if he was going to come to church and he finally texted back saying to call him.  On the phone, I found out that he overdosed on pills and alcohol, had a heart attack, and is moving to Boise with his aunt.  So he is gone.  It was just such depressing news.  He said he would send me his new address so I can stay in touch and I can get the missionaries in his area over to his new home.

Things with my companion have improved...teaching-wise not so much, but everything else is chill. Well, that is it for me this week.

Love ya' guys!
